COMMISSION PROCEDURE
The commission process begins by settling the details of the portrait such as size, mood or background. These can be discussed by email. Next, a visit to the client’s location is necessary, in order to take reference photographs. This is done in a one-hour photography session, after which no additional sittings are required; all the work is subsequently done in the studio based on the reference. An alternative to this would be to have a local photographer in the client's city take the photos according to my instructions. This would be a compromise solution, but can work very well. Before proceeding with the painting, a non refundable one third of the payment must be made. The completion time varies depending on size and complexity, but on average is one month. When the work is almost finished, a photo is sent to the client for approval, and he can suggest any last changes. At this time, another one third of the fee is due. After the portrait is ready, it must wait a month for the oils to dry. During this time, the painting can stay in the studio or it can be sent to the client's location under special conditions. The final payment is due before it can be shipped. All the reproduction rights to the paintings shall be retained by the artist. All the paintings are done exclusively in oil medium. Travel, accommodation, shipping and framing costs are additional. For information about prices, please send us an email. |
